Deductible class I medical device

Deductible class I medical device

DEDUCTIBLE MEDICAL DEVICES

In this page, we explain what it means for medical device and how you can write off medical expenses on your income declaration. In the end, you find the updated list about the Bedding products, which belong to class I medical device category - all of them tax deductible.

WHAT IS A MEDICAL DEVICE?

Mentioning the Directive 93/42/CEE text, medical device means "any instrument, apparatus, appliance, material or other article, whether used alone or in combination, including the software necessary for its proper application intended by the manufacturer to be used for human beings for the purpose of diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment or alleviation of disease".

All Bedding products certified as class I medical devices are such because they have characteristics suitable for therapeutic use, thanks to the use of particular materials and technologies.

This means that these products purchases are classifiable as medical expenses deductible during the tax declaration. The deduction corresponds to 19% of the total cost (in Italy).

WHAT IS IT NECESSARY FOR THE MEDICAL EXPENSES DEDUCTION?

From a fiscal point of view, the generic term "medical device" on the receipt does not in itself allow the related expense deduction. In the receipt or invoice must be written who support the expense and class of the medical device description with the relevant class. In order for the tax payer to be entitled to deduction, it is important that all medical devices are marked with the CE marking on the label, which certifies their compliance with the European directives 93/42 / EEC, 90/385 / EEC and 98/79 / EC.
